Denver chef Troy Guard expands his restaurant empire next week with the opening of a fourth Los Chingones at Colorado Mills mall in Lakewood.

The restaurant known for its tacos and margaritas — best enjoyed on a sprawling patio — is taking its chances inside a prominent 5,500-square-foot space at the Lakewood shopping center that last year closed for more than six months following massive hail damage.

It’s the largest Chingones to date, too, with two floors seating 180 diners, two indoor bars, a lounge area, and an outdoor patio featuring a converted trailer bar. New menu items at the mall include a beet and kale salad and a power bowl, plus brisket enchiladas and hardshell tacos.

Before moving west, Guard opened Los Chingones in Stapleton in 2017. His other two Mexican restaurants are in Denver Tech Center and RiNo, where a new bar component, Los Lounge, started serving late nights last spring. Here’s a look inside this newest space.

Status: Los Chingones Lakewood opens on Monday, December 3 at at 14500 West Colfax Avenue. The restaurant will open for dinner from 4:15 to 9:15 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 4:15 to 10:15 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
